Former Hoquiamite, Doris Elaine Harlan (Davies), 89, of Westport, died Saturday, July 18, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. She was born at the Hoquiam General Hospital to James and Myrtle Davies (Hartwell) on March 4, 1924. From three months to approximate ten years of age, Doris was raised by Judson and Della Adamy at 2506 Pacific Street. Her mother remarried George Hartwell and Doris moved back in with them.
Doris attended Washington Grade School for the first grade and later Lincoln Grade School where she was one of their first cheerleaders. Then she attended Hoquiam Junior High School where she was on the 8th grade student council. In high school she was a majorette for both the Aberdeen Elks drill team and the Hoquiam Rainbow drill team, and attended the state convention. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls and also ushered at the high school football and basketball games.
