Vaughn Gordon Hamilton, Sr., age 86, a longtime resident of Central Park, died on June 10, 2013, at his home. He was born on January 28, 1927, in National, Washington to Stanton Cecil Augustus and Blanche Margaret (DeCou) Hamilton. After a short time, the family moved to Pacific Beach and then Copalis Crossing.
Vaughn attended Hoquiam High School but left early in 1944 when he joined the Navy and served on the Destroyer U.S.S. Gurke as a Machinist’s Mate during World War II. After being discharged he returned to high school and graduated in 1947. After high school he attended the West Coast University in Los Angeles in 1948 where he received two diplomas for diesel and automotive mechanics.
