South Bend — Arnold Phillip Hill, a lifetime South Bend resident, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the Willapa Harbor Hospital in South Bend. He was 90.
He was a graduate of South Bend High School and began working for Smith Creek Logging Company of Naselle in 1940. In 1943, he took over his father’s share of the company, later served in the U.S. Navy and eventually bought Arne’s Arco, operating it until 1984.
