Roy Lloyd Brown was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on May 5, 1927, to Mildred and Lloyd Brown, the fifth of six children. He left Iowa and moved to Arlington, Wash. in the early 40’s, meeting and marrying Kathy Rollins. They divorced in the early 1950’s. They had three daughters; Sandra, Deborah and Barbara.

After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1953, Roy went to work for the Weyerhaeuser Co. in Everett. When the Cosmopolis Mill went on line in 1957, he transferred to the Harbor, where he met and married Janice Smith in 1960, they divorced in 1997. They purchased their first home in Cosmopolis in 1961. They had one son, “Karl” Michael Brown. Roy was more than a son-in-law to his wife’s parents, Karl and Ida Smith, and as executor of their estate, he was in charge of the care that Ida needed after Karl’s death in 1993 until she passed away in 2002. They both loved him very much.
