With his family by his side, lifelong Grays Harborite Louis C. Larson died on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital from complications with COPD. Eighty-three years old, he was born in Aberdeen on February 8, 1930. A first generation Scandinavian, his father, Conrad Larson was born in Sandnes, Norway and his mother, Jenny (Nyman) Larson was born in Stockholm, Sweden.
He attended Washington Grade School in South Aberdeen, Miller Junior High and J.M. Weatherwax High School with the class of 1949. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and served with the U.S. Army Combat Engineers in Germany during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953.
