Allan Koidahl passed quietly from this world on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, with his family nearby. He was born in Cosmopolis, Washington, on May 16, 1938, to Wallace and Lenore Koidahl. Shortly afterward the family moved to Aberdeen where Allan attended Weatherwax High School, graduating from Hills Military Academy in 1958. After serving in the Navy as a medical coreman, Allan moved to Port Angeles to attend Peninsula College.
There he met and married Suzanne Carleson, while working in the Port Angeles Hospital. The couple moved to Seattle where they raised their three children. Allan received an Associate Degree in Landscaping and operated a Landscaping business until 1983, when he began working for Metro Transit. During his 16 years as a transit driver he became interested in woodworking and especially turning wood from the family tree farm into beautiful and useful items. Allan became a member of the American Association of Wood Turners; a demonstrator and teacher; and board member at the Blue Whole Gallery in Sequim, Washington. He also sold his artwork at the Pike Place Market in Seattle.
