Bill Phelps, of Hoquiam, passed away on July 20, 2012, at the age of 73. He was born August 2, 1938, to William and Hazel Phelps in Marysville, Idaho.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962, at which time he received an Honorable Discharge. During his service as a Seabee he was stationed in Hawaii and was part of the commissioning party at Pacific Beach. He was a well known log scaler for Aloha Cedar, Grays Harbor Scaling Bureau and retired from Puget Sound Log Scaling in the late 1990s. He worked throughout the State of Washington.
