Ray Carpenter was born June 21, 1924, and died - too soon - on December 23, 2012. He grew up near Lake Nahwatzel and Camp Grisdale, where he started logging as a teenager. He spent much of his personal and working life outdoors -hunting, trapping, fishing, and logging.
When he was a young man, he did some boxing but decided to stop after a broken nose. Ray was also a lifelong baseball fan, attending many local high school games and watching the Mariners. He enjoyed dancing and he was an expert home brewer.
