Jack Dale Fordyce, a 40 year Grays Harbor resident, died Sunday, November 18, 2012, at his home in Elma. He was 69. Jack was born November 24, 1943, in Sunnyside, Washington to Warren Murdock and Ethel Marie (Smith) Fordyce. Jack attended grade school and high school in Sunnyside and went on to attended the University of Washington where he studied plant husbandry. Jack worked for Washington State Department of Natural Resources for over 34 years. He also worked for the Union Pacific Rail Road, Boeing and enjoyed being a sports reporter for the Aberdeen Daily World. Jack married Carolyn Marie Forgues in Elma on September 15, 2000. She survives him at the family home. Jack was a member of the Elma Eagles. He enjoyed photography, writing about sports, car racing, golfing, refereeing for high school sports and reading, especially novels.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn, Jack is survived by his son, Ron St. Peter of Snohomish, Washington; a brother, Warren “Butch” (Madelyn) Fordyce of Yakima; and sisters, Ardean (Ron) Fox, Grandview, Wash., Lee Ann (Mark), New Bern, N.C., Jean (Walt) Uebelacker, Boise, Idaho and Joyce (Paul) Benoit of Redmond, Wash. Jack is also survived by his step-father, Roy Zorr of Yakima; and his aunt, Eleanor (Lundy) Fordyce of Seattle and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Alan in 2008.
