Theresa Julia Godfrey, 95, a longtime South Aberdeen resident, died surrounded by her family, at Pacific Care Center, Hoquiam, on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. She was born in PeEll, Washington, the daughter of Frank and Julia Theresa (Gailey) Novak. She attended schools in PeEll. She was married to Herbert Godfrey on August 7, 1937, in a wedding celebration that lasted three days in their Polish community.
They moved to a farm in the Finch area of South Aberdeen in 1942, and raised corn as a part of the Victory Garden program during World War II. They also raised many farm animals including chickens, a cow and a donkey.
