Carol Mae “Ruth” Wallace Granstrom was born to William and Clara Mae Little Granstrom in a cabin outside of Fairbanks, Alaska on August 22, 1915. She passed away in Aberdeen, Washington on November 9, 2012, at the age of 97.
Carol’s family moved to Seattle where her father was a U.S. Customs Agent and then to Skagway, Alaska where her father was the U.S. Marshall. Carol met Elmer Granstrom in Skagway, where they were married on August 7, 1931. They had a daughter, Carol Marie, who was born in Skagway in 1933. In 1936, they moved to Hoquiam, Washington where their son, Duane, was born in 1938.
