Margaret L. “Peggy” Ping, 76, a lifelong South Bend resident, passed away at home on June 15, 2015, surrounded by her husband and four daughters after a three-year-long battle with Myelofibrosis, a type of chronic leukemia. Blessed with a true servant’s heart, Peggy found much joy as a member (and past President) of the Pacific Eagles Auxiliary #1443 and the Willapa Harbor Hospital Auxiliary. She also volunteered her time with the Gray Ladies and Willapa Harbor Helping Hands. As a 27-year survivor, she worked with the American Cancer Society’s Reach for Recovery to help other breast cancer patients and participated in numerous Relay for Life events. Peggy was an active member of both the First Baptist Church of South Bend, and more recently, CrossRoads Church in Raymond. She also supported the family businesses, working for 40 years at the H&H Café, and later, at Flowering Hills. In her free time, Peggy enjoyed knitting and crocheting, donating many hats and blankets to preemies, baking her infamous dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls, ceramics, puzzles and playing cards with friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
