Maxine Lillian Hamilton, nee Schierscher, devoted wife of William “Bill” E. Hamilton, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 16, 2014, while surrounded and cared for by her family. Born Sept. 4, 1930, in Kelso, she spent the first 40 years of her life in the area, graduating from R.A. Long High School in 1948, before moving to Grayland and later Westport. At the age of 19, she married her loving husband Bill on Feb. 23, 1950, in Lewiston, Idaho. In their 64 years of marriage, they owned and operated a successful logging business and motels. While being very active in each of the businesses, she found the time and energy to keep an immaculate house as well as a yard which she willingly shared with the local deer, rabbits and birds. She enjoyed working puzzles, cooking for the holidays and always looked forward to Christmas with gifts usually done by October.
