Former Hoquiam resident Harold (Bub) McGuire died Feb. 8, 2014, at the age of 88. He was born on July 20, 1925, in Hoquiam, to Walter (Rabbit) and Bea McGuire. He graduated from Hoquiam High School and recently attended his 70th year class reunion. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, spending two and a half years in Guam. Following his discharge, he graduated from Grays Harbor College and then went on to Central Washington State. He spent 30 years with Weyerhaeuser, working in Aberdeen and Enumclaw. At the time of his retirement, he was the Northwest Regional Quality Control supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, clam digging and golfing. He also enjoyed Hoquiam High School sports and proudly wore his Hoquiam shirts wherever he went. He will be missed for his mischievous sense of humor and the twinkle in his eyes.
